There is also a Steel Spline Insert re-enforcement to provide excellent durability against cassette sprocket damage. </i>

The hub shell is 6066 series alloy, offering a greater strength-to-weight ratio than lower 6000 series alloys. Large 15mm diameter hub axles for climbing and out-of-saddle sprinting responsiveness. Circular dropout interface steps ensure a secure fitment. </i>
<h1>Spokes</h1><i>We chose the top-of-the-range Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement PSR XTRA models. These butted blade aero spokes are lighter but also provide a greater degree of elasticity to maintain tensions longer and add fatigue resistance. PSR spokes feature the 2.2 width at the spoke head providing more material in this high stress area. The nipples come with a hex head so you can achieve precise tensioning. Combining these components well is key which is why all HUNT wheels are hand-built. </i>

The Purpose

The HUNT 40 Carbon Gravel Race wheelset was built to meet the needs of the gravel racer and rider. Wide and lightweight 40mm-deep hookless rims offer durability, quick acceleration and aerodynamic efficiency, intended for use with modern width gravel race tires. Laced to our lighter Sprint SL hubs with rapid 7.5-degree engagement, the complete wheelset comes in under 1400 grams.

With the 40 Carbon Gravel Race rim development, we were able to push the boundaries of rim weight-saving further, bringing the final rim weights to a mere 395g. As well as having that performance benefit, due to a simpler manufacturing process, hookless rims can be produced with less waste, resulting in a cost reduction which can be passed on to riders.

  • Tires Info

      • For the 40 Carbon Gravel Race HUNT recommend a 40mm tire for best performance, tire widths between 29mm and 64mm are also safe to use. You must not exceed the maximum tire pressure limits set out in the table below or the maximum limit set by your tire manufacturer if this is lower. Note: best performance is usually gained by using tire pressures lower than the maximum, you can see our blog post here about this.
      • You must not exceed the maximum pressure stated on your tire.
        • Suitable tubeless road, gravel and CX tires are available from a huge range of companies.
        • Only use tires marked as compatible with hookless (TSS) rims.

      • Axle Sizes

        These wheels are available with all existing disc brake road bike axle adapter sizes. We fit the axles you need, just complete the simple form shown after checkout:

        All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 286lbs (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If a rider is over 211lbs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.
