The Hunt Team getting ready to race

Brighton Big Dog 2019 | 6 of the most painful and brilliant hours of our year

Start of August is a privotal point of the summer. Not only is the start of the end of summer but it is also time for 2 awesome cycling events, first being Ardrock (lets not talk about that one) and Brighton Big Dog.

The Big Dog is a Local 6 hour XC race based in Brighton's Stanmer Park, just on the outskirts of the city. Being based just outside Brighton and with a large amount of our staff living in the thriving city, it is always a big talking point in the office with a large amount of our team taking part or coming to watch.

Hunt Rider, Dom, sending the Whistler Train Gap

Mind The Gap | Hitting The Whistler Train Gap

Our Graphic Designer Dom has been off travelling the world and is currently situated in Whistler for the rest of the summer season putting his DH Privateer wheels through some abuse. Before returning to the lot less gnarly UK.

Whilst being in the Mountain Bike Mecca there are a lot of things that he wanted to do one of those being the Iconic Whistler Train Gap, Here is his account of pulling up.

The Bombtrack crew rolling into the German woods

BOMBTRACK GROUNDWORK 2019

We were stoked when Bombtrack invited us along for the 2019 edition of their Groundwork event; a few days in the forests of Kürten in Western Germany with key media, team/sponsored riders, distrobutor staff and even a couple of lucky connected brands (including us!).

Usually around 40-50 of the "Bombtrack family" go along each year, and we sent Ollie to get the scoop on the 2020 range and suffer in the dirt...

Hunt Rider, Simon McNamara, winning his race

Finish work at HUNT on Friday. European Masters Champion by Sunday.

On Friday, as is traditional at The Rider Firm, we popped over to The Partridge after work for a beer or two in the sun. Si told us he was heading over to The Netherlands for 'a race' with some teammates from the local South Downs Bikes RT, and promptly pedalled home after his pint. Fast forward to Sunday, and he's the newly minted European Masters Champion. We're over the moon about it here at HUNT HQ, as it truly couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Well deserved, and certainly earned.

Josh Ibbett riding the Tour Divide

Josh rides the Tour Divide

The Tour Divide represents, in my eyes, the pinnacle of unsupported long distance bike racing. It was the event that first introduced me to the world of ultra endurance back in 2008 when I read an article in a magazine about Jenn Hill who rode the Divide on a single speed in one of the first editions of the race. I was intrigued but the event was still a long way out of reach for me. Fast forward a few years and Mike Halls incredible rides down the Divide, breaking the record and setting a new standard for long distance racing and I knew I’d be racing one day.

WBP Opening Weekend Gallery

It's that time of the year again, the sun has started to appear more and more, mud and snow is gradually fading. That can mean only one thing- It's bike season again!
Hunt Rider, Dom Knight, getting airborne

The Hunt for Whistler

Dom, HUNT's Graphic Designer, has been fortunate enough to ride in many places others dream of, yet he still hadn't quite made it to mountain biking's most iconic resort. Whistler.

Read all about the mindset and fears of packing it all in and heading for the unknown.

Throughout the years you've been sending us photos of your most precious belongings and we've been keeping a record of pretty much every bike we've seen with HUNT wheels on. We were recently going through the tons and tons of pictures and drooling over some amazing machines.

We decided to share some of our favourite ones with you

Cotic Spring Party

Cotic Spring Party

The weather may have been against us, but regardless we had a great day in Calver, meeting new people and talking bikes. Even managed to get out for some 'test runs' over in Ladybower.

Check out all the fun in the gallery.

Two Hunt Riders tackling the Dirty Reiver 2019

HUNT at Dirty Reiver 2019

We were eager to see how Gosse would fare over the 200 kms of fast gravel around Kielder Forest and he didn't disappoint. Averaging 27 kmh (16.7 mph) over the 187 km course with over 3,000 metres of elevation, Gosse proved to be a Flying Dutchman crossing the line just 3 minutes after the winner.

The event wasn't short of drama, Gosse had a nasty puncture the night before, needing to patch his rear tyre and ride with an inner tube for the entire distance. With the help of Bombtrack, Weldtite, Panaracer, Lezyne and ourselves, we somehow managed to supply Gosse with everything needed in case of another puncture (or five), so he set off almost stress-free. If you've spent time around Gosse before a race or event, you'll appreciate this. Fortunately enough, he only suffered one. So, after a quick repair, he managed to get back on and continue with his bid for gravel glory.
