RE:NEW HUNT 52 Carbon Aerodynamicist Wheelset
US HQ & Warehouse.
Order by 2pm (MST) for shipping the next business day (if shown in stock).
Pushing the boundaries of rim-brake aerodynamics to the absolute limit.
52 Deep | 27 Wide Ext | 19 Wide Int | 1548g (Wheelset) | CeramicSpeed
The Purpose
The fastest rim-brake wheels we've ever made, using 'Aerodynamicist' profiles as first used on our Limitless range. Ready to fly past the competition, whether road races, time trials or triathlons. We've been able to take the principles found during the Limitless research project (widening profiles below the edge of the rim to improve performance and stability across multiple yaw angles), and apply these to rims that make the absolute most of the space offered inside a conventional caliper brake.
Wind tunnel proven against world-leading wheels. See the research white paper for full technical details of our wind tunnel testing methodology, including data/graphs and the full range of wheels we tested against.
Designed by HUNT's in-house engineering team.
Fitted with CeramicSpeed's world-renowned low-friction bearings.

KEY DESIGN PARAMETERS
We knew we had to work within the confines of conventional caliper brakes, and so designed around a 19mm internal rim width optimised for a 25c tire (but will of course work without compromise with both 23c and 28c tires). Naturally, as with all of our rims, they feature a hooked tire retention design for safety, and are both fully ETRTO-compatible and tubeless-ready.
RIM PROFILE DESIGNS
As learned from our Limitless Research project & from consistent wind tunnel time across the past 2 years, we know that an optimum aerodynamic benefit for a drop-bar bike is yielded from widening rim profiles. The reasons for this is that it allows for a far more 'blunted' spoke bed area, which (depending on which part of the wheel you're looking at) is both the leading and trailing edge. The benefits of blunted spoke bed areas revolve primarily around the predictable airflow, with the wind 'hugging' the rim as it passes across it (as opposed to older style V-shaped rims, which would create turbulence in the form of stalls). The wider profile ensures the flow stays attached to the surface as long as possible before the point of separation, which is key as yaw angles increase.
TESTING & RESULTS
We conducted our testing in much the same manner as was performed for the 48 Limitless Aero Disc (See full research white paper on the rim-brake Aerodynamicist range here), however using CFD we were able to ascertain which prototype profiles were fastest before we headed over to the tunnel. Accordingly, we took a single final prototype shape of each depth to the wind tunnel (compared to the 5 and then 3 for the Limitless project). We tested against top competitors from across the world, using Continental's GP5000 as the control tire for all tests. Yaw angles were ±20 degrees.
As was expected, we have designed 3 rim profiles that offer exceptionally competitive aerodynamic performance, with the 82 coming in as the very fastest. The 52 and 62 are both incredibly competitive, in an area of bicycle aerodynamics that has been hotly contested and innovated within for over 15 years. As with previous testing, we have calculated positions based on Mavic's own WAD (Wind Average Drag) power distribution. Read Less

Key Features
The most aerodynamically capable rim brake line-up we've ever offered.
- Rims | Aerodynamicist rim profiles, developed from the ground up. Toray T700/T800 carbon-fibre. Unidirectional sidewalls with 3K weave bed and spoke areas, Griptec basalt ceramic fibre brake-track for excellent braking and durability. Tubeless-ready for lower weight, rolling resistance and better puncture protection.
- Tires | 19.5mm rim bed optimised for superior aerodynamic performance with a 25-28c tubeless tire, but also very capable with a 23c. Also works excellently with clincher tires and tubes.
- Hubs | Race Season Sprint straight-pull super-light, 15mm diameter 7075-T6 axle. Circular dropout interface steps for added stiffness. 3x treble tooth pawls resulting in just 7.5 degrees of engagement for instant acceleration. Steel spline insert to protect the cassette body.
- CeramicSpeed Bearings | CeramicSpeed clearly need little introduction. As you know, CeramicSpeed bearings are renowned for their low rolling resistance, and are chosen by the top international athletes and teams.
- Elliptical Wing Spokes | Pillar Wing 20 spokes with aerofoil profile. Tested and proven to provide aerodynamic advantage over flat or bladed options both from Pillar and other competitors.
- QR | Hunt Race Season super-light with heat-treated alloy/brass cam plate actuation and stainless steel springs.
- See the full specs here
- Weight | 1548g (52/52)
- UCI Approved

Warranty, HUNT Rolling Road Tests & Weight Limits
A full 3 years (6 years on CeramicSpeed bearings) from purchase date warranty is offered to the original purchaser only on all Hunt bike wheels against material or workmanship defects, please click here to read full details.
All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. 240lbs is the upper recommended rider weight limit for these wheels. Please include the weight of any luggage in your total rider weight when choosing the correct wheels. If a rider is over 200lbsthen an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to use tires at max 95psi as this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.
60 Day Ride & Return Period. We are certain you'll be impressed by the acceleration, low-weight, speed and durability of our wheels. We are cyclists and as such strive to offer class leading service and support. Buy with confidence, if for any reason you wish to return the wheels for a full refund of your order you can do so up to a full 60 days after you receive them whether they have been ridden or not.
NOTE: We are not able to control other brands brake pad compounds and we cannot test every possible brake pad so please use only our HUNT Brakco Griptec carbon specific rim brake pads with these wheels. Two pairs of pads are included with your wheels and further sets can be ordered from here.
