The Purpose

The Proven Carbon Race XC is our flagship tuned wheel system engineered completely in the UK and tested across the globe by our athletes and riders, now available with the Classified hub shell integrated into the rear wheel.

The tailored carbon rim layup provides maximum comfort and compliance at the front, with a stronger, more supportive layup developed for the rear. Together these rims offer the best balance of compliance and strength while retaining low weight and high durability for more time racing and exploring and less time servicing.

Building on the engineering and development of the Proven Carbon Race XC, we have teamed up with Classified to offer a Classified x Proven Carbon Race XC edition wheelset that combines our tuned performance with the slick operating wireless transmission 2-speed Powershift system.

The mountain-bike-specific 148 Powershift hub is compatible with all modern Boost framesets and is specifically developed to handle the rugged demands of off-road riding. Each Powershift hub shell is hand laced to an updated Proven Race XC carbon rim with revised spoke hole geometry to ensure our unique ride characteristics remain intact while incorporating the larger hub shell.

The hub shell arrives ready for the installation of a Powershift system out of the box (available only through Classified certified dealers). This wireless 2-speed hub system provides riders with a 530% gear range, instant shifting under load, and a lightweight yet durable transmission with an improved chain line. Moreover, as Powershift only requires a single chainring, it won't adversely affect bikes with rear suspension.

  • Spokes | 28F/28R Spoke Count, Triple Butted, Cold forged, Straight pull, Pillar XTRA 1420 spokes for increased strength and low weight.

        • For the Classified x Proven Carbon Race XC HUNT recommend a 2.25"-2.4" tire for best performance, tire widths between 2.0" and 2.8" are also safe to use. You must not exceed the maximum tire pressure limits set out in the table below or the maximum limit set by your tire manufacturer if this is lower. Note: best performance is usually gained by using tire pressures lower than the maximum, you can see our blog post here about this.
        • Only use tires marked as compatible with hookless (TSS) rims. You must not exceed the maximum pressure stated on your tire.
          • Suitable tubeless road, gravel and CX tires are available from a huge range of companies.

        • Axle/Hub Size

          • Boost - 148x12mm (Rear) with 110x15mm (Front). Rock Shox Torque Caps available - request in notes at checkout.
          • Please note: The rear axle for this wheelset is part of the Classified Powershift system, and will be supplied by Classified.

          All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh rolling-drum fatigue tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 135kg (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If a rider is over 125Kgs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to use tires at max 40psi as this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset.

          We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.

We are cyclists and as such strive to offer class leading service and support. Buy with confidence, if for any reason you wish to return the wheels for a full refund of your order you can do so up to a full 60 days after you receive them whether they have been ridden or not. Please note we cannot offer refunds on wheels that have suffered from crash damage but do offer H_CARE (Free Lifetime Crash Replacement) on these wheels.
