We've evolved our race-proven, aerodynamically optimized 40 Limitless Gravel rims into a rugged, ultra-endurance adventure wheelset with a SON 28 Dynamo front hub to provide reliable charging and lighting capabilities for long-distance ultra races, commuting and fast bikepacking adventures. Equipped with the dependable H_Ratchet rear hub, more spokes and brass nipples to keep riders pushing deep into remote terrain, bikepacking, or tackling ultra-endurance events - without sacrificing the aero advantage.

The Purpose.

The 40 Limitless Gravel Adventure Dynamo is purpose-built for ultra-endurance athletes tackling the world’s toughest bikepacking races. Developed with HUNT Beyond riders and based on our race-proven aero 40 Limitless rims, it combines a SON 28 Dynamo generator hub to power your lights and electronics, class-leading aerodynamic efficiency, and uncompromising durability into one purpose-built wheelset. Whether racing across the high passes of Kyrgyzstan or commuting via the road less traveled, this wheelset is engineered to go further, faster. Reinforced with a high-strength hub system and increased spoke count, it’s designed for riders carrying gear deep into remote terrain - where performance, reliability, and resilience are essential.

Limitless Technology

HUNT-patented manufacturing process which utilizes a strip of low-density structural polymer inserted in a molded channel within the rim sidewall with carbon molded over it, allowing for extra width while minimizing material mass.

SON Dynamo Front Hub

SON 28: The most efficient dynamo hubs in the world, engineered to last with Pressure Compensation System and precision sealed bearings to provide market-leading system durability, no matter the conditions. 3 watt / 6 volt output at 16kmh tested to German standard K687 for output requirement.

Durability

The in-house engineering team have designed and tested against new gravel wheel protocols which go beyond industry-standard ISO testing. Combining this with a broad 4.5mm bead hook thickness reduces the likelihood of pinch flats while maximising your comfort and rolling resistance when running low tire pressures.

H_Ratchet 48T DBL Rear Hub

The new dual-sided ratchet system with 48-tooth drive delivers a fast 7.5 degrees of engagement. 6061 aluminium alloy hub shell with extra strong 7075-T6 alloy axle.

Robust Wheel Build

A 24 spoke count front and 28 on the rear ensures a more even force distribution across the wheel, reducing strain on individual components. Hand-built with corrosion-resistant, high-strength brass nipples, double sealed stainless steel cartridge bearings offer smooth, reliable service with low friction creating a wheelset ideal for bikepacking setup.

Technology.

The HUNT engineering team invested two years developing the rim profiles for the 40 Limitless Gravel Aero project, with the goal of maximizing aerodynamic efficiency while reducing overall system weight and optimising rim geometries for wider modern gravel tires. This adventure-ready variation combines the aero benefits of the rim system with a robust wheel build for fast riding in remote terrain with bikepacking bags.

Wind tunnel testing shows the 40 Limitless Gravel Aero rims deliver the second-lowest aerodynamic drag among leading aero gravel wheels with both 40mm and 45mm tires, and offers the fastest overall system performance when aerodynamic drag and system mass are considered together. Patented Limitless Width Aero construction enables distinct front and rear rim profiles with wide cross-sections and a truncated (blunted) spoke bed to help maintain attached airflow. This approach provides meaningful weight savings compared to traditional aero rims, while wider internal widths and reinforced rim walls improve durability and resistance to pinch flats on rough terrain.

Tires Info

HUNT recommends a 40-45mm tire for best performance, tire widths between 35mm and 60mm are also safe to use. You must not exceed the maximum tire pressure limits set out in the table below or the maximum limit set by your tire manufacturer if this is lower. Only use tires suitable for hookless (TSS) rims. If unsure, please contact the tire manufacturer. Leading brands, including Schwalbe, Continental and Vittoria, have many tires suitable for hookless TSS rims. Note: best performance is usually gained by using tire pressures lower than the maximum, you can see our blog post here about this. Tubeless-ready for lower weight and rolling resistance.

Patented Limitless Width Aero Technology

HUNT-patented Limitless Width Aero manufacturing process allows for a wider external rim shape while minimizing material mass, utilizing a strip of low-density structural polymer inserted in a molded channel within the rim sidewall with carbon molded over it. The wider shape and the more blunted the spoke bed increases aerodynamic performance across a wider range of yaw angles (as the airflow is predictable and does not separate to the same degree), resulting in fast, ultra-stable rim shapes without the weight penalty.

SON Dynamo 28

Designed for smooth reliability and longevity, SON hub dynamos have been an undisputed benchmark for many years. The generator is precisely adapted to the intended use and efficiently powers headlights, rear lights or charges devices and power banks while riding, even at low speed.

Front & Rear Specific Rim Design

The wider front rim profile (36mm wide ext/27mm wide int) provides an optimized aero interface at the leading edge of the bike, reducing drag and offering predictable handling in crosswinds. The increased internal rim width on the front design provides improved traction and cornering performance due to the more open tire profile. The rear of the bike encounters more turbulent air flow, allowing for the engineering team to optimize the rear rim profile (35mm wide ext/26mm wide int) for power delivery and weight savings.

Aerodynamically optimized for tires over 40mm. The rounded U-shaped hookless rim profile reduces aero-dynamic drag across yaw angles. HUNT’s in-house engineering team, leveraging CFD analysis and 3D prototyping, along with the proven validation method of wind tunnel testing, has raised the expectation level for aerodynamic efficiency while simultaneously reducing the wheel system weight and increasing responsiveness, creating a world-beating combination of performance attributes.

H_Ratchet 48T DBL Hub & Freehub Body

Featuring HUNT’s H_Ratchet double-sided system (with two floating ratchet rings), with a 48t ratchet ring resulting in just 7.5˚ engagement. Durability is a theme for HUNT, and so all our freehub bodies have a H_CERAMIK coating, a process similar to anodization but with silica ceramic to increase density and hardness of the surface layer to provide excellent durability against cassette sprocket damage often seen on standard alloy freehub bodies.

Spokes

Pillar Wing 20 Elliptical Aero stainless steel spokes offer excellent performance-to-weight, and significant aero gains over round spokes. The patented design resists twisting under tension. Black anodized finish.

Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. A 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is normal for wheelset manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 286 lb (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If the system is over 211 lb then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.
