The Tour de Yorkshire is done and dusted, but one rider who made their mark in the sand was Canyon Eisberg rider Harry Tanfield. Claiming victory in the opening stage of the race, Harry sent Hunt HQ energy levels into the stratosphere! Tanfield spent the day in the break, pushing the limits of the chasing peloton. Coming into the final moments of the 182km stage finishing in Doncaster, Tanfield’s rivals launched an early sprint to the line, but in a stunning display of class, it was Tanfield who came storming past – all while sprinting seated!

“We started sprinting for the line and I was last, literally getting dropped. But they had sprinted so early into a headwind, they had run out of gas with 200m to go… so I just got my head down, weaved around a few people and then even had time for a good celebration. I thought it was a bit premature, actually. But it was such a big moment, both for me and everyone involved with the team, I had to do it”

Harry Tanfield | How to win at the Tour de Yorkshire

Tanfield’s success in the 182km opener out of Beverley ensured he etched his name in the race’s history books, becoming the first Brit to ever pull on the leader’s and points jerseys. Accompanying this was him being awarded the most combative rider. A total of three jerseys for the rouleur out of North Yorkshire.

We cannot be happy enough for Tanfield and the rest of the Canyon Eisberg team. Not afraid to try new things, the team have been rolling on 50Carbon Wide Aero wheels set up tubeless during the Tour de Yorkshire (a choice made completely on their part). Although we are certain that the like of Tanfield would be fast on anything he touches, it is great to see him and the team enjoying the big performance benefits that tubeless brings.
