Meet Matt Bostock: From a Nocturne Win to the HUNT Family

A handshake deal, a London Nocturne victory and a familiar set of wheels. We welcome Commonwealth Games gold medallist Matt Bostock to HUNT for the 2027 season.

Some partnerships take months of conversations. Others start with a joke on race day.

When Matt Bostock lined up at the London Nocturne, he made a light-hearted proposition to the HUNT team: if he won, could he have a sponsorship deal for 2027?

He went on to win the race. And, true to his word, followed up to see whether the deal was still on.

Of course, Matt is no stranger to HUNT. Having raced our wheels for six years during his time with Canyon dhb, he's already enjoyed plenty of success on our equipment. Add a Commonwealth Games gold medal, and a track World Championship gold medal, a career spanning road, track and criterium racing, and a genuine passion for performance, and it's a partnership we're excited to make official.

We caught up with Matt to talk about his return to HUNT, his career highlights and what lies ahead.

It All Started at the London Nocturne

HUNT: Let's start with the fun one. We joked at the London Nocturne that if you got on the podium, you'd get yourself a sponsorship deal. You went one better and won. Tell us about that night and the message you sent us afterwards.

Matt: My partner Meg has worked with HUNT for a few years now, and the team came out to the Nocturne to film some content and watch her race.

I jokingly said to Anne, "If I won, could I have a contract for 2027?"

Having won, I messaged her afterwards and said, "Is the deal on?"

And yeah, here we are! I'm really, really pleased to be a HUNT athlete for the next year.

Coming Full Circle

HUNT: You've ridden HUNT wheels before, back in your Canyon dhb days. How does it feel to come full circle and officially become a HUNT athlete?

Matt: I used HUNT wheels for six years as part of Canyon dhb, and I always really enjoyed using them.

I achieved a lot of success early in my career on those wheels. We had a wide range to choose from, I never had any issues and I always trusted them.

I've got really fond memories of racing on HUNT wheels, so when the opportunity came to work together again, I was super excited and jumped at the chance.

Racing Across Disciplines

HUNT: You've raced across track, road and criteriums. What do you enjoy about switching between the different disciplines?

Matt: I race across road, track and crits, and I think they complement each other really well.

When you train well on the road or perform well in one discipline, that translates to the track and vice versa.

I really enjoy all the racing I do, especially the crits, as that's where I've had the most success.

Commonwealth Games Gold: A Career-Defining Moment

HUNT: Winning Commonwealth Games gold was a huge moment. What did that mean to you personally, and where does it sit among your career highlights?

Matt: Four years ago, at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, I had a big crash that led to six months of concussion.

So to come back and win the points race a few months ago was unbelievable. It felt like a real redemption story.

It was incredibly special for me, my family and the whole of the Isle of Man. There have only been four gold medals, so to be one of those gold medallists is something I'm incredibly proud of.

It probably sits right at the top of my career highlights.

Keeping It in the Family

HUNT: Megan is already part of the HUNT family. Did working with her and seeing her relationship with HUNT influence your decision to reach out?

Matt: Meg has worked with HUNT for a few years now, and that definitely influenced my decision to reach out.

Especially when she got the 5AM wheels. She was raving about them!

Obviously, I always want to use the best equipment I can, so I was super keen to get hold of some myself.

More Than Just Equipment

HUNT: How important is it to work with a brand where you can give direct feedback and play a part in product development?

Matt: It's really cool to work with a brand that's actively looking for feedback.

Being able to play even a small part in refining the wheels and making them as good as they can be is really special.

Knowing you've had a little bit of input into that process makes a difference.

Looking Ahead to 2027

HUNT: Finally, what are you most looking forward to about being part of HUNT?

Matt: The thing I'm most looking forward to is being part of a really cool brand with great people.

And when I line up on the start line, having full confidence that I've got the best equipment possible.

Welcome to the Team, Matt.

From racing HUNT wheels in his early professional years to officially joining the team for 2027, Matt's journey with HUNT has come full circle.

His experience across multiple racing disciplines, combined with his enthusiasm for equipment development and performance, makes him a great addition to our athlete roster.

We're looking forward to supporting Matt throughout the 2027 season, working together on product feedback and seeing what's possible on the road, track and crit circuit.

Welcome to HUNT, Matt.
