Canyon Eisberg racers

The road season for Canyon Eisberg has truly taken off, after taking on a double-header this weekend just gone. Seven riders took on both The Netherlands' biggest single-day race, the Ronde Van Drenthe, and the Rabobank Dorpenomloop Rucphen.

The van Drenthe menu is filled with cobbled roads, punchy Bergs and of course relentless headwinds and crosswinds - what Dutch race would be complete without these? The elements took their toll to the peloton.. a significantly reduced main bunch finished only 19 seconds back from the winner. James Lowsley Williams stepped to the challenge and finished the Drenthe in a respectable 34th. James was the last remaining member of the team in the peloton, which numbered just 47 by the end of the 192km race.

The Dorpenomloop was a similarly tough day, as crashes plagued the 41st edition of the 187.5km race. Rory Townsend and youngster Joe Fry suffered crashes early on and forced the two to retire. Fortunately, neither riders have sustained any lasting injuries. A condensed four-man team then headed on to position Andrew Tennant in respectable 25th.

It might have been a tough trip for Canyon Eisberg without the headline grabbing titles, but the team will still leave the continent proving worthy of their invites. With more plans on and off the continent, the team is still showing strong and promising signs early on in the season.
