The Purpose

Introducing the 54 UD Carbon Spoke Disc, utilising our proven TaperLock carbon spoke technology, resulting in fully serviceable carbon-spoked wheels that can be trued like any other. With significant increases in lateral stiffness (see testing info below), they have been engineered to provide a stiffness-to-weight ratio previously unseen on serviceable wheels.

Using an innovative spoke-seating method, the 54 UD Carbon Spoke Disc wheelset offers carbon spokes that are held purely mechanically, with no bonding required. We call this TaperLock, and it allows for carbon spokes that can be trued and maintained just like a normal steel spoke.

The TaperLock UD Carbon Spokes are incredibly strong, achieving over 450 kgf (kilograms force per spoke) maximum tensile strength, compared to leading steel spokes which conventionally reach around 300 kgf.

For HUNT, aerodynamics and stiffness have to be considered as component parts of a more holistic understanding of performance componentry. That's why we always design with serviceability and usability in mind, because there's no point having a fast wheel you can't use with your favourite tyre, or that you can't easily maintain.

Rims | 700c Aerodynamicist disc-specific rim profiles, designed from the ground up. Toray T700/T800 carbon-fibre with a stronger ratio of T800 (T40) fibres to achieve greater strength-to-weight ratio. Unidirectional sidewalls with 3K weave bed and spoke areas. Tubeless-ready for lower weight, rolling resistance and better puncture protection.
Tires | 20mm rim bed optimised for superior aerodynamic performance with a 25-28c tubeless tire, but also very capable with a 23c. Tubeless-Ready.
Hubs | Sprint SLC hubs add strength and enhance power transfer, meaning more of your power pushing you forwards. The hub shell is a cold-forged 7000 series alloy, offering a greater strength-to-weight ratio than extruded 6000 series alloys. Large 15mm diameter hub axles for sprinting and out-of-saddle climbing responsiveness. Circular dropout interface steps ensure a secure fitment. Center-lock brake mount. Maximum tire pressures for other tire sizes: 30mm - 32mm do not exceed 70psi, 33mm do not exceed 50psi, 35-45mm do not exceed 45psi, 45-50mm do not exceed 40psi

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 273lbs (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If a rider is over 233lbs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to use tires at max 90psi as this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.

We are cyclists and as such strive to offer class leading service and support. Buy with confidence, if for any reason you wish to return the wheels for a full refund of your order you can do so up to a full 60 days after you receive them whether they have been ridden or not.
